Networking
Important
organisations and contact persons
The main government stakeholders are listed in the annex.
It is expected that a new Ministry for Nature Resource and Environmental
Protection will be established within the announced government reform
in Serbia rather soon.
During the first national workshop, the most important local stakeholders,
including NGOs, were identified.
Public Waterworks Enterprise "Srbija vode" (Serbia Waters) was
identified as one of the most important stakeholders, dealing with waterworks,
flood protection, and water management.
Tisa Office, an NGO network office established within premises of NGO
"Tisa Klub Kanjia" could have significant importance in
raising public awareness, information dissemination and NGO participation
in the TRB SDP.
In database 91, institutions and contact persons relevant for the TRB
SDP are listed.
Description
of possible national focal point
As agreed during consultations with the Directorate for Environmental
Protection of the Republic of Serbia and Public Enterprise "Srbijavode"
(Serbia Waters), the national focal point representative will be from
Public Enterprise "Srbijavode". Mr. Arpad Varga, Technical Director
of Public Enterprise "Srbijavode" was selected as national coordinator.
Proposal
for organisation(s) to implement TRB SDP on large scale
Among institutions identified as relevant for the TRB SDP (see database),
several could implement the TRB SDB on large scale. Public Enterprise
JVP "Srbijavode" VPC "Dunav" has capacities for different
waterworks, water management, flood protection, irrigation programmes
and projects. It has already established cooperation with neighbouring
countries. The Hydrometeorological Institute of the Republic of Serbia
has capacities for implementing different monitoring programmes, while
the Institute for Nature Protection of Serbia already has a leading role
in nature protection, conservation and sustainable use. The network of
local municipalities with improved coordination could have a significant
role in project implementation.
